According to the Voltus press release, the new commitment adds 1,070 MW of capacity and is one of the largest known distributed capacity portfolios deployed by a hyperscaler. Voltus aggregates batteries, smart thermostats and industrial process adjustments at businesses and homes, signals them to cut use when the grid is strained, and passes bill savings and direct payments to participants. Google funds the program. PJM serves 67 million customers across 13 states and Washington, D.C.
